2015 was our first year for disaster deployments. It brought many challenges and many learning opportunities as well. We learned that no matter how reliable your truck is, it will still break down from time to time. We learned that not all our trailers will end up in the community and, in fact, will likely end up being hundreds of miles apart. We learned showers are nice, but beds for emergency responders and volunteers are equally important. We also learned disaster deployments require two things we ran short on, volunteers and funding. We have started addressing these "learning opportunities", but we will need help, and a fair bit of it, to meet the needs we saw this year.
